NO DANGER: JUST A TEENAGER
NO Danger: Just a Teenager
A DOCUMENTARY with a collection of talks from parents raising black boys to men in America
How do I raise a black teenager in America? It’s a question that’s worthy of an answer because I am raising a teenage black boy in America. With race front and center in society today, so many are wondering how to keep their kids safe. At the beginning of 2020, I realized I needed advice. It began after a discussion with a white man when he told me the teenage years are the worst! He said these boys are trying to find themselves so this crazy behavior sometimes continues until their nineteenth or twenty-first birthday. Yikes! I thought. Grateful for the advice but horrified at the same time. How do I handle the coming years of my sweet son possibly transforming into a hormone-stimulated young man? Experts say their hormones become like tossed salad during these years. Yet, my son is 6 feet 3 inches at 14 years old. Most people will think he’s older than 14. Now with racism coming from behind the shadows, I can’t help but wonder if police as well as some white people may see danger before they see a teenager. On top of that, I wasn’t raised in America, so I sought advice and now share them with you in this book.
